RETURNS & REFUNDS POLICY
How cancellations, change-of-mind returns, damaged items, faulty publications and refunds are handled for direct website purchases.
VERSION 1.0 | EFFECTIVE 6 August 2026
We want every book that leaves The Thriving Mindset to arrive as expected and feel worth opening. If something has gone wrong, or you have simply changed your mind about a direct website purchase, this policy explains what to do.
The quickest route
Before sending anything back, contact us with your order number and tell us whether the item is unwanted, damaged, faulty or incorrect. We will confirm the return route and the address to use. Please do not send returns to a publisher, printer or registered office unless we have told you to do so.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies when you buy a physical or digital publication directly from SCW Resources Limited, trading as The Thriving Mindset, through thethrivingmindset.co.uk. It covers books, journals, workbooks and other publications within The Thriving Mindset ecosystem.
If your payment and order were completed through Amazon, another bookseller, an app store or a different retailer, that business is the seller. Please use the returns or help process shown in your account or order confirmation. Their policy and your rights against that retailer will apply. The Thriving Mindset cannot issue a refund for money paid directly to another seller.
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under UK consumer law.
2. Contact us before returning a book
Email: thethrivingmindset@yahoo.com Website contact form: the Contact page
Please include:
• your name and order number
• the title and format of the item
• whether you want to cancel, report damage or report a fault
• a short description of the problem
• photographs of visible damage, where convenient and helpful
Photographs can help us resolve transit damage quickly, but we will not use the absence of a photograph to remove a legal right.
3. Changing your mind about a physical book
For most physical publications bought online, you can cancel without giving a reason. Tell us clearly that you want to cancel within 14 days after the day the order is delivered. You then have a further 14 days to send the item back.
You may tell us by email, through our contact form or by using the cancellation form at the end of this policy. You do not have to use the form, but your message must make it clear that you are cancelling the contract.
Return postage for a change-of-mind return is normally paid by you, provided we told you this before purchase. Use a service that gives you proof of posting and package the item securely. If we did not tell you before purchase that you would need to pay the direct cost of returning the item, we will cover that cost.
Condition of returned books
You may inspect a book in the way you reasonably could in a shop. You do not lose your right to cancel simply because you opened the delivery packaging or handled the book.
We may make a lawful deduction if handling has reduced the value of the item beyond what was necessary to decide whether to keep it. Examples may include:
• writing, highlighting, drawing or completing journal pages
• heavy creasing, folding, staining or tearing
• reading or using a publication substantially beyond normal inspection
• removing or damaging included components that formed part of the product
Original packaging is helpful but is not a condition of exercising your legal right. Please use suitable packaging so the book is not damaged on the return journey.
4. Refunds for change-of-mind returns
We will refund the price paid for the returned item and, where applicable, the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option. If you chose a more expensive or faster delivery service, we do not have to refund the difference above standard delivery.
We may wait until we receive the returned item, or until you provide evidence that you sent it back, whichever happens first. We will then issue the refund within 14 days.
Refunds will normally be made to the original payment method unless you expressly agree to another method. We will not charge a refund fee.
For a partial return from a multi-item order, any delivery refund will be calculated according to the original delivery charge and applicable consumer law.
5. Damaged, faulty, misdescribed or incorrect books
A new book should arrive readable, complete and as described. If it does not, that is not a change-of-mind return.
Contact us as soon as reasonably possible if an item:
• arrives damaged in transit
• has missing, duplicated, blank or unreadable pages
• has a binding, printing or manufacturing fault
• is not the title, edition or format you ordered
• does not match the description given at the time of purchase
If a physical item is faulty, not as described or not fit for its normal purpose, UK consumer law may give you a short-term right to reject it within 30 days of delivery and receive a full refund. Depending on the circumstances and what you prefer, we may instead arrange a replacement. Your legal rights continue after 30 days and may include replacement, price reduction or refund remedies.
We will pay or reimburse reasonable return costs for items that are faulty, damaged, misdescribed or supplied incorrectly. Please contact us first so we can give you the correct return route. If we ask you not to return a damaged item, that will not affect the remedy we agree with you.
6. Signed and personalised copies
A copy that has only been signed by the author, without being made specifically for you, is treated like any other physical book for change-of-mind cancellation purposes.
A copy created to your specification, such as a book containing a personalised dedication, name or message, cannot normally be cancelled simply because you change your mind. This exception does not remove your rights if the item is faulty, damaged, misdescribed or the personalisation does not match what was agreed.
7. E-books and other digital publications
If a digital publication is supplied directly by The Thriving Mindset, you normally have a 14-day cancellation period from the date of the contract. However, that right can end once the download or access begins if, before supply starts, you:
• expressly ask us to supply the digital content immediately, and
• acknowledge that you will lose the 14-day right to cancel once supply begins.
The checkout and confirmation process must record both points before an immediate download is supplied. If that process is not followed, your cancellation rights may continue.
If digital content is faulty, does not match its description or does not work as reasonably expected, contact us. Your rights may include a repair or replacement, or a price reduction or refund where the problem cannot be put right within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience.
For Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play Books or any other third-party digital platform, request help or a refund through the retailer that processed the purchase.
8. Pre-orders and orders not yet dispatched
You may cancel a direct physical-book pre-order or an order that has not yet been dispatched by contacting us. If we can stop the order before dispatch, we will refund the full amount paid, including delivery charges.
If the order has already entered fulfilment or has been dispatched, the standard cancellation and return process for physical goods will apply.
9. Bundles, sets and promotional offers
If you cancel a complete bundle or set, return all items supplied as part of it. If only one item is faulty, contact us and we will agree to the appropriate remedy for that item without requiring the return of unaffected items unless reasonably necessary.
Where a discount depended on buying several items together, a partial change-of-mind return may affect the discount applied to the items you keep. Any adjustment will be explained before the refund is completed and will not reduce your statutory rights.
10. Gifts
A gift recipient may contact us about a damaged or faulty item, but refunds are normally made to the original purchaser using the original payment method. We may ask for the order number or other reasonable proof of purchase.
11. Items we cannot accept as change-of-mind returns
Subject to your legal rights, we cannot accept a change-of-mind return for:
• personalised or made-to-order publications
• digital content after immediate supply has begun with your express consent and acknowledgement that the cancellation right is lost
• items not purchased directly from The Thriving Mindset website
We will never use this list to refuse a valid claim for an item that is faulty, damaged, misdescribed or supplied incorrectly.
12. Return address and safe packaging
Return address: We will confirm the correct return address when we approve the return. Please do not send a product to our registered office, printer or publisher unless we have told you to do so.
Please wait for return instructions before posting an item. Include your order number inside the parcel, remove or cover old delivery labels, and package the item so it can withstand normal postal handling. We recommend retaining proof of posting until the refund or replacement is complete.
13. If we cannot resolve the problem
Please contact us first and give us a fair opportunity to put things right. We will respond in plain English and explain the decision we have made.
You may also obtain independent consumer advice through Citizens Advice in England and Wales, Advice Direct Scotland, or Consumerline in Northern Ireland. Your right to pursue a legal remedy is not affected by using our complaints process.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our products, fulfilment arrangements, sales channels or legal obligations change. The version published when you place an order will normally apply to that purchase, unless a later change gives you greater rights or the law requires otherwise.
